My T5 died yesterday, some pics of the bits I have explored so far are available here:

Will the rounded slot for the woodruffe key in the crank mean I need a new one?
I also think the clutch went aswell but have not got that far yet. The malossi kit survived though!
Cheers.
Cylinder base seal: Looks safe enough to me.
Scored Nicasil (can’t see how deep)…I melted mine (see pic)…it was more a case of honing off melted piston pluss a couple of smaller scores where the rings had melted to the piston…a gentle hone should do it if it hasnt gone hrough the Nicasil (0.6mm thick)…Well I reworked some barrel and piston ports a bit, new piston and though still running in she seems to be actually pulling better than before (even with the Sip pipe and up-gear :-))
Did it hard seize? With that much play on the FW your timing would be way too advanced…probable cause. You’re lucky it didn’t come completely off and cause more devastation though.
Your Flywheel came loose…not torqued down properly?. If the taper is undamaged on the fwheel you can re-use it. Did it hit the pick-up though? (can’t see from pix).
Crank: you can get the woodruff keyway repaired…depending on the age/condition of the crank you might be better getting a new one though…
Who did the head?: It looks a bit different to mine (Taffspeed).
What is the squish band? Are you running with or without the Malossi head gasket ?
Andy

Looks nasty, im sure a machine shop will be able to fix it for you, dont know if it will be cost effective though.
The scores are nothing then mate if u can’t feel them, just the normal marks left by te ends of the rings?
What timing are you running? Normal 16 or less?
Deffinitely wisest to swap out the crank as it could easily have twisted to given all the additional strain on it…the cost of a new keyway + runnout test and correction if twisted does not really make it worthwhile.
What makes you think the clutch ‚went‘ too?
If it was running abnormally well before the flywheel flew off, you could have developed an airleak somewhere…though the plug looks OK from here, and that would not have made the flywheel fall off!

??? Does the image link on here not work???
The scooter did not seize and the scores are just visible, I can’t manage to feel them with my fingernail so not deep at all. I will be buying a new crank next week because that seems the quickest way to sort it.
I think now having time to think about it, it was my error. I was taking the flywheel on and off quite a lot to get the timing right and may have neglected to torque it up properly! I can’t remember doing it anyway. Total I****.
The head was done by beedspeed but I can’t really comment on that as it’s the first one I have had. I am not running with a head gasket.
It was running really well a couple of hours before this happened, 70mph sat up cruising up a slight incline. Don’t know how accurate the clock is though.
Thanks for your comments.
