Hi - I was wondering if anyone could offer some advise- I am about to use a Goetze150 cylinder kit on a 125 vespa px- original head oem 150- with other mods- I heave heard it might be a good idea to use a head gasket-check and fine tune the compression- helps with leaks- I heard sip offer gaskets ranging from 0.5 1.5- I heard it is best to use a performance gasket- Can anyone help me to choose a gasket that will fit- not sure what size yet but if you can give me a name and if sip supply it- I would appreciate any help- many thanks
Recommended Gasket Type:
Use a performance cylinder head gasket made of aluminum or copper (not just paper or fiber). SIP offers suitable gaskets under brands like SIP Performance, BGM Pro, or ScootRS.
Recommended Product from SIP:
Product:
SIP Performance Cylinder Head Gasket
- Available in different thicknesses: 0.5 mm, 1.0 mm, 1.5 mm
Example SIP part numbers:
- 90701000 – 0.5 mm
- 90701010 – 1.0 mm
- 90701020 – 1.5 mm
Material: Aluminum or copper
Fits: PX125/PX150 (make sure the inner diameter matches your piston)
Installation Tips:
- Measure your squish clearance (e.g. with solder or feeler gauge by hand-turning the engine with the head loosely mounted).
- Ideal squish clearance: around 1.0–1.2 mm.
- If the squish is too tight, use a 1.0 mm or 1.5 mm gasket.
- If the squish is too wide, try 0.5 mm.
- Always torque the head bolts crosswise with a proper torque wrench, following the manufacturer’s specs.
- A performance gasket also helps seal better and tune compression for more reliability.
