Hi
I'm restoring a 1971 90 SS and I need to either rebore or replace the cylinder.
I don't really want to tune the engine, but I was wondering if the Malossi 102cc or 112cc cylinder kits will work on this engine?
If so is there any benefit fitting either of these kits to the 90 SS engine? Will it perform any better (or worse)?
Would I need to make any further modifications to the engine (bearing in mind I want to keep the SS original?
Hi dude
Basically you can mount only the "big" tuning cylinders because you have a 51mm stroke crank like a 125 PV or ET3.
(135 DR, 136 Malossi, 130 Polini)
Anyway:
My recommendation to you is to open your engine and check the cylinder. If its ok then change only the bearings, oil seals, gear oil, piston rings and bearing, spark plug and the gaskets.
If the piston is bad you can change it, if the cylinder is bad you can rebore it and change in a oversize piston.
at least check the cruciform, check the transmission gears clearance, ignition timing etc. ...
cheers
