T5 clutch side oil leak

I think I have a leak with the Clutch side oil seal, which requires changing. Can anybody provide answers to the following:

Is this an easy task to carry out youself ? Does the engine have to be removed ? Do you require special tools ? Should I just find a suitable garage ?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

if you live in southern england or wales ill come and do it for ya for £40 .you need proper tools and guts if you aint done it before leave it to someone that knows,it is after all open vespa heart surgery

the vespa doctor is located in the rural cotswolds and is available for servicing,rebuilds,tuning and building from scratch and also does a damn good restoration with the assistance of the best paintsprayer known to man.building,riding and generally f***ing about with px’s since 84.always a pleasure to tamper with these little beauties.all work undertaken all the time.no dis-satisfied customers yet

£40 makes it worth my while,but i do it for the love of it.cant beet oily hands in a px motor,hang on im getting a boner.i presume the £120 is a shops price,if so bear in mind they have overheads like business rates etc,if its a mate tell him hes a money grabbin git

I live in Whitehaven, Cumbria ( don’t think you’d be that keen to travel), but thanks for the offer, £40 is a lot less than the £120 I’ve been quoted for the job. Am I being ripped off or is this a reasonable price to pay ?

The answer to your questions are as follows ;
Yes if youve done it before and no if you havent.
Yes it does and stripped.
No - it can be done without but helps if youve got them.
Yes if youve never stripped an engine before.
Youll be able to get a quote for the job easily because its a common job.

[:smile:] Thanks to all who offered advice, I decided to clean my carb one more time before changing the oil seal, yes I know, what a bone head i’ve been, because a through clean of the low revs jet and bobs your uncle, I am back on the road with my scooter purring along. I have to say I cleaned the jets three times but to no avail, oh for the love of scootering, are we mad or what !!! Thanks again
