i would like some advice on a scoot that i ahve comming its a t5 mk1 172 its done 400 miles so i presume it has the running in jets at the mo once run in what is the size of jet that should be used im sticking to the 24 t5 carb it has a scorpian pipe and i have a cosa clutch for it but it needs modifying would it be easier just to take to a dyno(saxelby) and just tell them to get it set up properly
thanks
i think its his son juan thats doing it at psn ryan(someone did tell me it was) or i may have read it in a scootering perhaps can you tell me one thing tho i have just cleaned me carb on the classic and on top of the jet it had 120 then b4 then 110 so is that a 120 or 110 jet coz as you know im a bit stupid
122 or 125 main jet
This happens with a lot of T5s and I’ll be honest have never come up with a definitive answer why. I have cured it in the past one of two ways. The first is to disconnect the rubber hose from the frame of the scoot. The second is to take the filter off and fit a ram air filter to the air box.
Somewhere around a 120 Joe.
Best bet is to get Ralph to stick it on the dyno though. The man’s a genius,I had no idea he was still doing work unless it was for personal friends.
mines ok on that join i put some blue gasket sealer on pipe before i put it together cant stop mine leaking where it goes on to the barrel . the reason i have a 26mm carb fitted is because the 24mm was warped and throttle slide cept sticking and as my brother has a VE trade account i got 26mm for £25 only reason i have 26mm
well its premix at the mo but im going to swop over the kit onto my classic which is set up with the auto lube
now im really ***ed of my bog spot has returned again…wheni give it some stick in 3rd and go into 4th i get a bog spot, this also happens when on full throtttle and i have to let of and back on again…i have checked and cleaned the carb tightend all the bolts and screws…i have taken 4 inches of the fuel pipe and there are no kinks in the pipe…the carb has the same jets as the t5 standerd apart from 125 main jet …and i have set the timing to suit the kit any suggestions before i take a very nice shiney new lump hamer to it
how do you fit one is it easy?
my set up is 172 kit scorpion pipe 26mm carb 128 main jet drilled out bottom of idle jet if not would stop when you give it some throttle from idle chiselspeed told me this and sold me the drill bit cost £1 ram filter and cosa clutch standard auto lube no extra oil in tank .Gary
ok so me scoot has finally arrived today its not been started for 2 years so cleaned the carb which had a 120 main jet checked the plug which was a b9ev(is this the correct one) and it fired up after 10 or so kicks whooooo hoooooo anyways a took the plug out and it was oily as shite and there was black oily juice leking fron the spring join is this normal? thanks joe (thick shite)
have you had the cylinder head modifiyed for the malossi kit this needs to be done .Gary
A FLAT SPOT WHEN BACKING OFF THE THROTTLE???
When you unscrew the main jet assembly the large jet with the screwdriver slot in is the air corrector, the long tube with the small holes in (BE4) is the atomiser and the small jet at the end is the main jet.
With most kits you usually just need to change the main jet.
Hope this helps.

you should NOT be running mallos 172 on auto lube alone!!!this runs at 2% and the 172 is 3%
mine is to the right of the mark outside edge to outside edge
where the down pipe meets the exhaust its held by some springs
If your adding extra oil it could be unburnt 2 stroke oil. If the bikes been standing a while worse case is its the engine side oil seal. Auto lube is fine with fully synth. Only way to adjust the metering on the oil pump is to get a grinder to modify the gear in the carb box with a steeper gradient.
try122 main jet use what ever make of oil you want putoline is ok
yes i have and it is all fine it is just running a bit to rich
