SS180 ready for 2012

I finished my 1967 SS180 back in November last year, going to Vespa World Days from Wien to London this year so fitted a P2 engine for reliability and put the original on the shelf, will buy a SS180 Bitubo front shock & Sip Road racing exhaust soon! Colour is Pavone Blue but pix make it look brighter than it is!

chriscoot,

nice work. it looks great, like it was just out of the factory crate. i like the way the photos make the blue look. but i'm sure it looks good in the real world too.

did you do anything special with the P2 engine before you put it in?

thanks, the pix dont do it justice, the colour in real life is exactly like the original pavone blue, i just changed the engine for a standard p2 lump, changed bearings, seals etc and fitted 125 4th gear but apart from that just standard, running an old pitone exhaust at the moment but ordered a SIP racing p2 standard looking exhaust, want to keep it fairly standard as i will be doing a lot of km/miles on her this year!

Hello Chriscoot, (Hello Heggie) looks great I love the color with the gray rubbers!. I am currently rebuilding my one SS180 in exactly the same color, Pavone Blue. To bad your not using the original engine. I use a full 12V electronic ignition on my SS (with lightend flywheel) , reworked a spare cylinder to a 65 bore, Grimstead Piston (200cc)with bigger exhaust manifold and put a P200 exhaust system on it. Loads of torque and more reliable then the original setup.
Maybe seeing you on Vespa World days!
