hi, have a lml enginge case with reed valves and a mallossi 166cc kit fitted to my vespa. The problem i have been having is its been stored for some mths due to weather, was kick started over regular and seemed fine. I then took it on a ride and about 10 miles the scoot cut out and then came back to life with a big back fire. It carried on ok for a few more miles then stoped and would not start for 15mins then got it going again. I check over things like spark etc but found nothing wrong. I then checked the oil level in gear box and found the smell of petrol, now i thought it must be seal problem, but after talking to the dealer who last fitted the engine with new seals and bearings, thinks it could be a reed problem, from leaving it stand for so long. Has any one had this issue, or thoughts. I am also changing the old lml type coil and cdi for a ducati one. The scoot will start and run but there is not loads of smoke coming out which i would say seals? id be greatfull if any ideas or some where in uk wales to get it fixed so i can use it.
hello, i know of a couple of people with lml/stellas and have never heard of a problem with a reed valve gasget. it shouldn't be to hard to remove and replace the gasget. and while your in there, you might want to replace the reeds. i've read good things about ggr scooters carbon fiber hot reeds.
