Done 1000 miles on this now with no problems. Just got back from Morcambe which is about 330 miles round trip for me. Mostly motorway and all at genuine (not speedo bullshit) 70 mph +(measured on a tacho). About 80 is as much as it will do without up gearing. Still early days but the last trip would have killed the old piston. Its on a moderately ported reedvalve motor at the moment but intend to take it off and try it on a standard p2 with no porting next week. I’m expecting it to give a decent power boost even with unmatched casings. I will also be able to see what 1000 miles of abuse does to the single ring. This kit will never compete with full blown malossi reed motors for top speed but it has bags more torque and pulls two up everywhere. I’ve had no near seize ups but am running the slow run circuit and the main jet a little rich. Still lovely to ride around town if you still think wheelies are cool like me[:D] If malossi made this kit it would be perfect.
Hi Diablo
What gearing are you running the kit on currently and have you had a chance to inspect the ring yet?
If the reliability of the GS piston and ring was good enough I would seriously consider swithching from Malossi to Polini, it sounds like the kind of power delivery I’m after.
If its lasted this long it 's worth it!
mine on a tuned scoot in the early years, used to give up(bottom of the piston falls off!)every other week! but the fun factor was always good!
did teach me most things, as spent a couple of years trying to find away of getting it to run!
now have a standerd kit(bought cheap…thanks ebay!)
running on standerd exhaust,carb,oil injection(!)
wont rev high, but pulls all the hills, once in fourth tend to stay there, overtaking is fun again! not fast but how a p200 should ride!
once the piston goes, I will order a gs one,as if it lasted this long on a tuned bike it must be good!
