Took off speedo as suggested. No movement on cable.
Cable was damn tight in the headset and now I cant get it back on. It was so tight that I couldnt get enough slack to clip the speedo cable securely. Should it be very tight or should there be slack?
Thanks for the info - very helpful. I will look into the speedo at the weekend, hopefully fix it and get an mot done…can`t wait to get out on my first scoot
Tried doing that, but cannot pull up the cable from inside the headset enough. I see that it should push fit and snap into place, but there is no give in the cable
Take off your headset and remove the speed from the end of the cable and then lift the front end and spin the wheel, if the cable turns then the speedo is dead, if it does not turn then follow the cable down to where it enters the backplate of the forks and check it is secure, if it is then there are two other options, either your cable has snapped somewhere inside or the drive for the speedo which is located inside the backplate is broken. If it is one of these problems and you don`t know what you are doing then i would suggest getting someone that knows what they are doing to fix it.
The S stands for either sport or special. take a look at the front of your scooter, if there are slats cut into the front beside the horncover in the centre of the legshields then i think if i remember correctly that would make it a special. if there are no slats then look at the horncover, does it have a grill? and is it curved outwards or square? I if it is curved outwards or it has no grill then i think it would stand for sport. I don`t think that the S signifies and difference in mechanics or performance.
Depends on how strict they are. Standard check is lights, brakes, indicators, brake light, tyres, ignition, wheel bearings and last but by no means least the underside of the frame for rot.
You should probably be able to get a manual for it either from Beedspeed Scooters (www.beedspeed.com) or Taffspeed Racing (www.taffspeed.com)
Hope that this has been a help. if this is your first scooter then welcome to the life!! [:drink:] [:drink:] [:drink:] [:smokin:]
