Not going stock, reed valve baby!

Converting my P2 to reed valve, as of right now the work is being done, my question is, I often see pictures of engines without the cylinder cowl on, does this mean it’s ok to run your bike without one? Also, the crank I currently have is the long stroke type, I know in a perfect world with unlimited funds a full circle crank would be the crank to run, but my bike should be fine with what I have for now right?[:drink:]

Reed valve is definately the way to go! as for this running without a cylinder cowl shite! all I can say is - Its your Cylinder kit, your stupid risk if you want to try it. I know a guy who seized a 150 Super ecause he didnt have a cooling shroud on it (there is a reason they call it this!!!)

60 mm cranks are good, but ful circle cranks are better! I have found from experience that they are stronger too! something to think about for the future, maybe a 60 mm full circle crank[]

ciao, scoot on

What do you think the cowl is for? It’s there to circulate the air from the flywheel.[:rotate:]

Sorry I read to quick !
I though it was running without a cowl, engine cowl=side panel…

SO it’s true, no cylinder shroud = seizure, cause no air goes to the cylinder.

Never run without the cowl or the engine will sieze in a short period of time.

I didn’t agree, the cowl doesn’t do anything with a seizure !!!
it’s air-forced on a vespa, so nothing to do with cowl.

If you see a picture of a vespa without a cylinder cowl it either isn’t used or it is liquid cooled.

If you run without a cowl your cylinder is not being cooled.

No Cooling = Seize [:bounce:]
