Carburator + reed valve for Polini 177 / VLA1T

Hi,

My current set up is Vespa Gl VLA1T 1965, Polini 177+Polini head, original VLA1T -65 casing with ports adjusted/one more added, Mazzuchelli Serie Pro crank, Vespatronic CDI (timing ca. 17), carb SI24/24E, Nordspeed racing exhaust.

I think the carb is too small for the set up mentioned above (engine is running too hot); Am i correct? I've already purchased the item "40121000" Dellorto 30mm with reed valve. Is it the right choise or is there a better alternative (with the same price range)? I can change the order within today so quick reply is more than welcome. My other alternative was 28mm Dellorto without reed valve..

I have also a original crank in stock; should I use the original or Mazzuchelli?

Thank's in advance,

BR,

Andy, probably a bit late but a Si 24/24 carb will be fine on your setup, may need to re-jet as the carb suits a PX 200 setup. No need to go reed with 30, probably a bit too big for the 177cc cylinder. A 28mm Dellorto will require some manifold changes with or without reed.

I would change the crank if it is the standard con rod length Mazza. good luck

Check spark plug and double check timing.

Sounds like a good setup for old timer '65
